She was predeceased by: her parents, Herbert Howard and Loubelle Whaley Howard; her husband Frank Mervin; her daughter Sharon Denise Mervin; and her siblings, Elwood Howard, L. E. "Bud" Howard, Leroy Howard and Larry Howard.
She is survived by: her children, Patricia Galetschsky (Derek Tabor) of Fayetteville, Candace Alphin of Pink Hill, Rhonda Wilcox (Delanson) of Garner, Denise Smith (Dearld) of Pink Hill and Archie Mervin of Burlington; her sisters, Ann Herring of Albertson, Jean Outlaw (Michael) of Eastover, Trula Meadows of Swansboro, Faye Davis of Kinston and Joan Bradshaw of Kinston; her sisters-in-law, Polly Seymour and Billie Faye Howard; and her grandchildren, Heidi Galetschky, Bradley Pike, Justin Wilcox, Lauren Honeycutt, Logan Smith and Ryan Mervin. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
