It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Leonidas Herring (Kinston, North Carolina), born in Lenoir, North Carolina, who passed away on June 11, 2024, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the vast expanse of eternity, Charles Leonidas shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Charles Leonidas farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Roscoe Herring and Rachel Herring. He is survived by: his spouse Shirley; his children, C. L. Herring (Debbie) of Greenville, NC and Becky Herring Mitchell (Tom) of Chapel Hill, NC.; and his grandchildren, Charlie Herring (Bridget) of Greenville, NC, Lauren Cole (Dylan) of Greenville, SC and Ainsley Mitchell of Wilmington, NC.. He is also survived by father, and grandfather who cared deeply about his family, friends.
