He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James B. Sykes and Susan Sykes (Sudie); his children, Gwen Sykes of Kinston, Deborah Sykes of Kinston, Edward Jr. (Marica Sykes) of LaGrange and Jeffrey Sykes-Wade (Anthony Sykes-Wade) of Conover; his grandchildren, Christopher Syers, Kevin Syers, Darren Syers and Samantha Banks; his great grandchildren, Caleb, Gideon, Brianna, Layila, Kane, Jacob and Ethan; and his wife Grace Coe Eubanks.
