It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Effie Haddock Smith of Kinston, North Carolina, born in Lenoir, North Carolina, who passed away on August 31, 2022, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Paul and Daisy Haddock; her former husband Roland Jennings "RJ" Smith, Jr.; and her sister Pauline Haddock Hughes. She is survived by: her daughter Judy Allyson Smith Hailey (Denny Shelby Hailey); her grandchildren, Shelby Allyson Hailey Humphreys (David Kyle Humphreys) and Samantha Jo Hailey Wallace (Brandon Scott Wallace); her great grandchildren, Hailey Allyson Humphreys, Hunter David Humphreys and Annabelle Mae Wallace; her sister Edna Ruth Cole; and her nieces and nephews, Mike, Donna, Tim, Brenda, Paula, Brent, Chip and Cindy. She is also survived by 14 great nieces and nephews and their children.
