He was predeceased by: his parents, William Randolph Thompson and Blanch Davis Thompson; and his siblings, Estelle Smith, Isabelle Barwick, Gaynelle Harris, Dorothy Tyndall, Sally Baker, Clifton Thompson, Burselle Thompson and William Thompson.

He is survived by: his wife Julia Mae Herring Thompson; and his siblings, Doris T. Futrell of Kinston and Bobby Thompson (Patsy) of Kinston.
