He was predeceased by: his former wife Myldred Sutton McKinney; and his brothers, Charles and Gerald McKinney. He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann McKinney; his children, Jayne Athey (Chip) of Kinston and Mackie McKinney of Durham; his grandson Evans McKinney; his stepchildren, Gary Beard (Elaine) of Jacksonville, FL., Lee Ann Durham of Lebanon, TN and Lynna Rawlings (Stetson) of Lebanon, TN; and his siblings, Donald McKinney of Houston and Verda Wright of Miami. He is also survived by five step grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
