He is survived by: his wife Barbara Taylor Gibson; his children, Brandi Thomas (Bentley Thomas III) of Dover, Georgia Lloyd (Joshua Lloyd) of Dover and James Gibson Jr. of Dover; and his sister Robin Gibson of Dover. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and numerous great, great grandchildren.
