We announce the death of James Herbert Miller Jr. (Kinston, North Carolina), who passed away on July 1, 2026, at the age of 98. James will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Elsie McGlaughon and Rev. James Miller, Sr.; his wife Susan Waller Miller; and his brothers, Dr. D. Edmond Miller and Kenneth M. Miller.
He is survived by: his daughters, Susan Miller Brink (Alex S. Brink) of Mebane and Patsy Miller Blackwood (Fred M. Blackwood) of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Elliott M. Blackwood (Sara), Olivia B. Moore (Jeff), Jackson U. Brink (Abby), Laura B. Ruggiero (Drew), Jennifer B. Rogers (Lance) and Melissa B. Long (Blake); his close friend Linda Sanderson of Kinston; and his sister-in-law Suzanne J. Miller. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
