He was predeceased by: his parents, William Bryant and Lady Dell Parrish Burkett; and his siblings, Johnny Bill Burkett, Ethel Sasser, Elbert Burkett, Faye Koonce, Robert Burkett and Roger Burkett.
He is survived by: his children, Jesse Ray Burkett Jr. (Sherry), Christy Davenport (Dock) and Holly Burkett (Tommy Jones); his grandchildren, Dustin Burkett (Kelsey), Amanda McCarty (Tyler), Tyler Rouse (Kayla), Nicole Burkett, Trent Davenport (Allison) and Amber Davenport; his great grandchildren, Jaxson McCarty, Lynnlee Burkett, Matthew Murdock, Ben Schoonover and Wrenlee Rouse; his close friend Becky Nunn; his siblings, Angeline Hayworth, Eugene Burkett, Ann Crook, Cynthia Jones (Tootsie) and David Burkett; and his friends, Jo's Café, Byrds, Big Blue and Mike of Horne's Service Center. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Pilgrim Home Church (5802 Wyse Fork Rd, Dover, NC 28526). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 at the Westview Cemetery (2681 Hillcrest Rd, Kinston, NC 28504).
