It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mary Lewis Joy of Kinston, North Carolina, born in Jacksonville, Florida, who passed away on October 18, 2020, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ethel Lewis and George Lewis; her husband Leonard M. Joy; her brothers, George Lewis and William Lewis; and her son Steven Lewis Joy.

She is survived by: her daughters, Sandi Joy Gilchrist (Terry Taylor) and Nancy Joy Nemeth (Jay); and her grandchildren, Megan Gilchrist Hopf (Collin) of Guyton, GA, Quinton Gilchrist of Raleigh, Claire Nemeth of Raleigh and Camden Nemeth of Raleigh.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations in Mary's honor to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of one's choice.

“TO Sandi and Nancy: Sorry to hear of the loss of your MOM. She was so sweet just like her CCCookies. Loved making those. Memories so vivid. Great when y'all moved to Ktown from FL. You were jumping rope in the driveway when Laura & I rode by on our bikes. Big bro Steven came out& said Hi. Told him I had a sister his age then Sandi came out &had a brother her age. Lots of great memories of you, me, & PJP, too. I just wanted to let you know thanks for bringing JOY(S) to us! God bless you all 143.”
