We announce the death of Melvin McCoy of Kinston, North Carolina, who passed away on September 21, 2026, at the age of 41. Melvin will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerome McCoy and Brenda Jenkins; his aunt Bessie Pittman; his uncle Claude Williams; and his cousin Quinton Gray.
He is survived by: his significant other Elizabeth Johnson; his children, Tyquan Chambers, Carson Johnson and Callen McCoy; his stepson Elijah Johnson; his siblings, Jerome Jenkins (Jolene), Tyrone Jenkins (Pamela), Shontikio Jenkins (Monquetta), Leon Dixon and Shanikia Jenkins (Joshua); his aunts and uncles, Melvin Jenkins, Larry Joyner (Edwina), Dennis Pittman (late Bessie Pittman), Edna Pittman (Clevon), Jeanne Braswell (Joe), Mary Williams (late Claude Williams) and Maggie McCoy; and his grandparents, Fred and Ann Johnson. He is also survived by 28 nieces and nephews, many cousins, and a host of special friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Pink Hill Funeral Home (1056 NC-11, Pink Hill, NC 28572). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at the Oak Ridge Memorial Park (985 NC-11, Pink Hill, NC 28572).
