We announce the death of Peggy Light of Kinston, North Carolina, who passed away on June 16, 2026, at the age of 82. Peggy will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Peggy will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Peggy’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John T. Nelson Sr. and Lorena Bingman Nelson; her husband Gilbert Joseph Light, Jr. (Joe); and her brother John T. Nelson, Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Kelly Light, Terry Light Humphrey (Chris Humphrey) and Jason Light (Ginger Light); and her grandchildren, Jarred Light and Jayden Light.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lenoir County SPCA or Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Peggy's memory.
