She was predeceased by: her husband Samuel Everett Thornton; her daughter Debbie Lewis; her brothers, John William, Earl and Donald Taylor; and her parents, Leon Taylor and Sudie Worley Taylor.
She is survived by: her sister Joanne Taylor Kennedy; her children, Steve Thornton (Glynda), Mary Lynn Thornton and Gary Thornton; her grandchildren, Brian Croom (Mandy), Heather Matter (Albert Estok), Kasi Brooks (Matt) and Alex Thornton (Lonnie Huer); and her great grandchildren, Mattison Smith (Austin), Brannigan Croom (Caleb Hoover), Haley Carwyle (Weston), Aubrey Croom, Elaiyna of Oregon, Jasper, Morgan Matter, Jade, AJ Estok, Wyatt and Sloan Brooks.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 1990 NC-11, Kinston, NC 28504 or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Ct., Goldsboro, NC 27534.
