He was predeceased by: his wife Marie; and his parents, Eugene Bancroft Clayborne and Helen Bryan Casey Clayborne. He is survived by: his children, Sherry Clayborne, Ernest Bryan Clayborne (Elaine) and Mark Anthony Clayborne (Sherri); his grandchildren, Matthew Kyle Robinson, Megan Alexis Robinson, Zachary Thomas Robinson, Nathaniel Braxton Clayborne, Madison Brooke Clayborne, Michelle Gray, Michael Shaver and Nicole Howes; his great grandchildren, Olivia Gray, Jaxson Gray and Nora Howes; and his siblings, Eugene Clayborne, Lyman Clayborne, Benny Clayborne and Barbara Clayborne.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 21st 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rouse Funeral Home (108 N Caswell St, La Grange, NC 28551). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, January 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Westview Cemetery (917 Cleveland Dr, Kinston, NC 28504).
