He was predeceased by: his wife Edna Sloan; his parents, Keith Gordon Sloan and Effie Pearl Sloan; his son Ruben Carnell Sloan, Jr.; his siblings, Melvin, Erwin, Keith Jr., Daniel Sloan, Edna Davis and Thelma Boone; and his son-in-law Mark Rosenberg.
He is survived by: his children, Dr. Ron Sloan (Cheryl) of Ben Wheeler, TX, LaDonna Rosenberg of Wilmington and Keith Sloan of Wilmington; his daughter-in-law Jo Ellen Sloan of Deep Run; his grandchildren, Donald Sloan (Lacie), Tawney Lowry (David), Dr. Ruben "Trey" Sloan, III (Kristi), Sloan Minges (Seb), Hoyt Minges, III (Danielle) and Jana Rosenburg; his great grandchildren, Logan, Caleb, Braden, Calli, Tucker, Daniel, Brody and Elias; and his nieces, Vicky Davis and Karen Stell. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren.
