He was predeceased by: his father Hearl Kenneth Powers; and his brother Gary Lane Powers. He is survived by: his mother Shirley Ann Parsons Powers of West Jefferson; his wife Phyllis Medley Powers; his stepson Tony Plitt of Lansing; his siblings, Robert Powers (Sarah) of Wilkesboro and Sharon Hartzog (Michael) of West Jefferson; his stepgrandchildren, Troy Plitt (Mecala) and Rachel Plitt; and his aunt Judy Watson of Laurel Springs. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
