She was predeceased by : her parents, Edward Phipps and Birtha Almedia Phipps; her husband Reggie Griffitts; her children, Lisa Ward and Michael Griffitts; and her siblings, Worth Phipps, Ray Phipps, Mary Brinegar, Ellen Eller and Lizzie Shumate.

She is survived by : her grandchildren, Whitney Michelle Ward of Boone and Corey Jeffery Ward of Ashe County. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
