She was predeceased by: her parents, Jones Richardson and Ethel Sexton Richardson; her brother Lawrence Richardson; and her husband Lake Brooks. She is survived by: her son Donald Brooks (Brenda) of Lansing; her sisters, Kathleen Kenton of West Jefferson, Irene Woodie of West Jefferson and Anna Lee Oliver of West Jefferson; her foster brother Blair Lambert of Mountain City, Tennessee.; her granddaughters, Deva Darnell (Cody) and Laken Brooks; her great grandchildren, Addilyn Brooke Darnell and Lake Maxwell Darnell; her stepgranddaughters, Lacy Anderson and Kayla Phillips (Doug); and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Chloe Barnett, Kendel Barnett, Layla Anderson, Cyrus Phillips, Danny Phillips and Alexandria Campbell (Keela). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Ashelawn Memorial Chapel (3470 U. S. Hwy 221 N, Jefferson, NC 28640). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
