He is survived by: his wife Cathy Sanders Chavis; his sons, Christopher Chavis (Jillian) of Laurinburg and Vance Chavis (Stephanie) of Simpsonville, SC; his grandchildren, Aubree of Avery, AC, Stevie and Sterling; and his sisters, Teresa Smith (Lyle) of Sarasota, FL and Lois Thompson (Ron) of Charlotte.
