“Charlotte insisted that my dad have me come and spend the summers with them when I was 7. She's the reason I fell in love with North Carolina, the woman behind so many wonderful memories, catalyst to the great acceleration of love I felt for my father and for all the family I have there. She was my advocate and savior when I was an out-of-control teenager on the Rez and such a good mother to me! If there's a Heaven. She's there. I miss her and love her so much! Rest in Peace, Charlotte.”

“We're so sad to hear of Charlotte's passing. She was my daughter Jaimie's beloved stepmother, and I thought of her as my "sister wife." Jaimie went to live with her father, Jim Sutton, and Charlotte when they were living on the reservation in Keams Canyon, AZ, just as she was turning 13, a difficult age.. Charlotte was a wonderful Mom to Jaimie, giving her so much patience and loving care. Jaimie lived with Jim and Charlotte for three years, and returned much more grown up, a young lady.”
