With profound sadness, we say goodbye to William LeGette McLean of Laurinburg, North Carolina, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Archie Maynard McLean of Maxton and Kate Alexander McLean of Huntersville; his brother Archie Clyde McLean of Rockingham; and his grandson John Alexander Caudill (Laurinburg) of Winston-Salem. He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Baxley of Lumberton; his daughters, Anne Caudill (Bill) of Laurinburg and Marie Tracy (Jim) of Asheville; and his grandchildren, Daniel McQueen Caudill of Raleigh, Kate McLean Tracy and Grace Kennedy Tracy of Asheville.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 26th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at 11360 Fairway Dr, Laurinburg, NC 28352. A funeral service was held on Monday, October 27th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church (600 W Church St, Laurinburg, NC 28352). A committal service was held on Monday, October 27th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery (1213 Mt Moriah Rd, Maxton, NC 28364). A graveside service was held on Monday, October 27th 2025 at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church (850 Mt Moriah Rd, Maxton, NC 28364).
He was a member and president of the Mormax Club of Maxton and served on the Finance Committees of the Scotland Memorial Hospital Foundation as well as Hospice of Scotland County.
