He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, John Henry Murphy and Mae Haley Murphy; his siblings, Emily Mae Murphy Dowe, Rudolph Murphy and John Westley Murphy; his nieces and nephews, Darlene Dowe, Johnnie Ray Merritt, Tokesia Watson of Wilmington, NC, Deloris Dowe of Leland, NC, Tonya Dalrymple of Fayetteville, NC, Lisa Underwood of Clayton, NC, Kimberly McNeil of Portsmouth, VA, Lashon McNeil, Dolly McNeil, Stephanie McNeil Williams, Lastasia McNeil, Isaoha McNeil, Crystal Murphy, Semeka McNeil, Dwyane McNeil and Antonio McNeil of Clinton; and his brother-in-law Irving Dowe Jr. of Leland, NC. He was also cherished by Great Nieces, Nephews other Relatives.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel (1246 Hobbton Hwy, Clinton, NC 28328). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Mt. Zion AME Zion Church (11015 Taylors Bridge Hwy, Magnolia, NC 28453).
