With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Dorothy Shirley of Leland, North Carolina, who passed away on February 22, 2026 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As Dorothy departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Dorothy may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Dorothy leaves behind.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude Short and Alice Short; and her husband Ernie Shirley. She is survived by: her children, Alan Shirley of Leland, NC, Curtis Wayne Shirley of Tuscaloosa, AL and Linda Shirley of Mulberry, FL; and her sister Mary Shirley of Hagertown, MD. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
