Rose M. Russo Obituary

In Loving Memory of Rose Marie "Dee" Russo
Rose Marie Russo, affectionately known as Dee, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2024, at her home in Leland, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 17, 1938, in Rutland, Vermont, to Catherine and Walter Cendroski, Dee graced the world with her vibrant spirit and wonderful sense of humor.
Throughout her life, Dee was celebrated for her quick wit and infectious laughter. Her humor was a beacon of light, bringing joy and warmth to all who knew her. Whether sharing a witty remark or sharing a hearty laugh with friends and family, Dee's humor had a way of brightening even the darkest of days.
After graduating from Matingnon High School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Dee embarked on a fulfilling career as a registered nurse, graduating from the esteemed Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in 1962. Her compassionate care and unwavering dedication touched the lives of countless patients and families, earning her respect and admiration from all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In her well-deserved retirement, Dee embraced her love for golf with enthusiasm. An avid golfer, she enjoyed spending her days playing on the beautiful courses in and around her home in North Carolina. The camaraderie of the sport brought her immense joy and fulfillment, especially when shared with her longtime golf partner and dear friend, Judith Welch, who predeceased her.
Dee's love for nursing was surpassed only by her love for her family. She was a loving mother to Anthony C. (Tony) Russo, and grandmother to Sarah and Collin Wilson, as well as Kenneth McDonald. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Dee was predeceased by her daughter, Dorene Marie (Russo) Wilson, whose memory she held dear in her heart and former husband, George T. Russo of Otis, Massachusetts.
A memorial service to celebrate Dee's life will be held on Saturday, March 2nd, at 10:00 AM at Story Chapel in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Hospice, Wilmington, North Carolina, in Dee's honor.
Though Dee may no longer be with us in body, her vibrant spirit and wonderful sense of humor will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her laughter and light. May she rest in eternal peace.
