She was predeceased by: her parents, Lether A. King and Harriet "Hattie" King; her husband James D. "Tarry" Benton; her sister Elizabeth Gainey; her grandson Gregory S. Clemmons II; and her son-in-law Bennie Jacobs.

She is survived by: her daughters, Beverly Cameron (Cam) and Monta Faye Jacobs; her grandchildren, Jeremy Jacobs (Dwanedia), Ashli Boswell (Brandon) and Tiauna Clemmons; her great grandchildren, Beckett Jacobs, Hadley Jacobs, Brooklynn Boswell, Bayli Boswell and Cameron King Glover; her sisters, Rose Cook (John) and Earlyne Rabon; and her nephew Marc Cook.

Visitation was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Elah Baptist Church (1527 Old Fayetteville Rd, Leland, NC 28451). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
