It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Bertie Mae Messer of Lenoir, North Carolina, who passed away on February 17, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, James Alan and Maggie Silvers Burgess; and her siblings, Ernest Burgess, Zannie Greene, Anna Dee Jenkins, Mary Evans, Betty Glance, Nellie Conard, Louise Steinel, Lizabell Trantham and Stella Franklin.

She is survived by : her husband David "Lee" Messer Sr.; and her sons, David Lee Messer Jr. (Debbie), Jimmy Messer (Debbie) and Ricky Messer (Monica). She is also survived by four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Patterson House of Prayer in Lenoir, NC.
