He was predeceased by: his parents, Don Charles Cook and Maxine Mitchell Cook; his wife Virginia Ann McKinney Cook; and his siblings, Terry Lee Cook, Charles "Richard" Cook and Sue Story.
He is survived by: his sister Verna Lou West (Melvin); and his stepdaughter Lucinda Landrum. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Greer-McElveen Funeral Home (725 Wilkesboro Blvd NE, Lenoir, NC 28645). A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel (725 Wilkesboro Blvd NE, Lenoir, NC 28645).
