He was predeceased by : his parents, Boyd "Bud" C. Barlow and Thelma Smith Barlow; and his brother Roy Barlow. He is survived by : his wife Theresa Roberts Barlow; his children, Elizabeth Barlow Gray (Keith) and Buddy James Barlow (Cathy); his grandchildren, Caleb Gray, Chase Barlow Gray, Alison Barlow and Faith Barlow; and his sister Cathy Barlow Gragg (Tony).

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Lenoir (304 N Main St, Lenoir, NC 28645).
