He was predeceased by : his parents, Allen Townsend and Eva Townsend. He is survived by : his wife Rachel Townsend; his children, Vicki Brown (Perry) and Wayne Townsend; his granddaughter Heather Gryder (Justin); his great grandchildren, Sawyer and Lily Gryder; and his siblings, Glen Townsend, Buddy Townsend (Daphene), David Townsend (Darlene), Barbara Wheeler and Pat Greene. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
