She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Hood and Beola Herman Hood; her husband John Thompson; her son Gary Gragg; and her stepchildren, Steve Thompson, Melinda G. Thompson and Janet Payne.

She is survived by: her sons, Larry Gragg (Bernice), Brian Gragg (Sherry) and Thomas Gragg (Barbara); and her stepchildren, Eric Thompson and Penny Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Carolina Caring Hospice House in Newton, North Carolina.
