Lettie Elizabeth Sumner Obituary
We are sad to announce that on July 24, 2025, at the age of 95, Lettie Elizabeth Sumner of Lenoir, North Carolina passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Lettie Elizabeth Sumner to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar M. Kornegay (Eula) and Mae Kornegay; her husband John Ivey Sumner; her son Gary Sumner; and her siblings, Milton, Glenwood Kornegay, Ruby Miller, Evelyn Quinn and Betty Thigpen.
She is survived by: her children, Donnie Sumner (Shelby), Woodrow Sumner (Anita), John Edgar Sumner, Sherrill Sumner (Karen) and Carolyn Kelly (Mike); her siblings, Grace Quinn and Robert Kornegay (Cindi); and her granddaughter Ashley. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Pink Hill Funeral Home (1056 NC-11, Pink Hill, NC 28572). A reception was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Oak Ridge Memorial Park (985 NC-11, Pink Hill, NC 28572).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gentiva Hospice , 115 Airport Road, Kinston, NC 28501.
