He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Henry Barnes and Addie Barnes; his wife Kathy Barnes; his son Ronnie Barnes, Jr.; his siblings, Everett Barnes, Roy Barnes, Ray Barnes, Jimmy Barnes, Hazel Barnes and Evelyn Oakes; his son Travis Barnes (Amanda); his grandchildren, Aleighea and Tyler; and his siblings, Frank Barnes, Paul Barnes (Linda), Larry Barnes, Arnold Barnes (Jackie), Stanley Barnes (Leona), Faye Harrison, Gracie Holmes (John) and Rita Roberts (David).

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 10th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church (4415 Calico Rd, Lenoir, NC 28645).
