He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Prestwood and Helen Prestwood; and his siblings, Danny Prestwood (Hazel), Johnny Prestwood and Lois Greene (Roy).
He is survived by: his wife Mary Prestwood; his son Timothy Prestwood (Brenda); his brother Tommy Prestwood (Brenda); his sister-in-law Revon Whittington; and his nieces and nephews, Brad Prestwood, Donna Laforgia, Tammy Gaston (John), Bobby Prestwood (Leanne), Gary Prestwood (Leslie), Russel Greene, Randy Greene, Leanne Kelley and Sandra Drum.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Blue Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery (2017 Wilkesboro Blvd, Lenoir, NC 28645).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Amorem Hospice.
