He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Corpening and Margaret Corpening; and his siblings, Rudell June Corpening, William Justice Corpening, Paul Allen Corpening and Margaret Faye Corpening.

He is survived by: his siblings, Gerald Vance Corpening, Shirley Corpening Kincaid, Jessie Mae Parker and Catherine Corpening Rankin. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, October 31st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Lippard Chapel at Broughton Hospital (1000 S Sterling St, Morganton, NC 28655). A memorial service was held on Friday, October 31st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
