He was predeceased by: his brother Larry Kines; and his brothers-in-law, Ralph "Sonny" Conrad and Timothy Cecil. He is survived by: his wife Teresa Cecil Kines; his parents, Lester Cleveland Kines and Troy Burkhart Kines; his sons, Christopher Dean Kines (Desiree) and John Anothony Kines (Jodi); his grandchildren, Greyson, Parker, Graham and Piper; his sister Nancy Conrad; his brother-in-law David Cecil (Frankie); and his nephews, Cecil Conrad (Daragh), Michael Conrad, Matthew Cecil (Jody) and Morgan Hardin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or to Davidson-Davie County Community College, Lexington, NC 27292 in gratitude for their comfort and care during his final days.
