He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Little Chaffin and Martha Esther Byerly Chaffin; and his brothers, John Wesley, James "Jim" Chaffin and Robert Alexander Chaffin.

He is survived by: his siblings, Mildred Mize of Lexington and Donald Chaffin of Spring Branch, TX.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and in laws.
