He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Oscar Kennedy and Virginia Helmstetler Kennedy. He is survived by: his wife Betty Forrest Kennedy; his sons, Robert Bryan Kennedy of Lexington and Michael Chad Kennedy (Missy) of Wilmington; his sisters, Barbara Tysinger of Churchland and Doris McDaniel of Pennsylvania; and his granddaughter Maddie Kennedy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292.
