He was predeceased by: his parents, Cydney James Smith and Gertrude Bullard Smith; and his siblings, Reuben Smith, Wiley Smith, Chester Smith, Lester Smith, Earl Smith, Christine Bledsoe, Iula Starr and Linda Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Reeder Smith; his daughters, Amy Fink (Scott) of Harmony and Tammy Kiger (Wesley) of Lexington; and his siblings, Joe Smith (Janey) of Roseboro, Jack Smith (Brenda) of Roseboro, Hurley Smith (Betty Sue) of Roseboro and Lura Phelps of Fayetteville.
