It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Frances Mae Bates of Lexington, North Carolina, born in Davidson, North Carolina, who passed away on October 18, 2023, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, George Smith and Esther Smith; her husband Thomas J. Smith; her sons, Gary and Danny; and her siblings, Paul Smith, RJ Smith, Jerry Robinson, George Smith, Jr., Annie Stanly, Hazel Little and Helen Washburn.
She is survived by: her brother Steve Smith. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
