He was predeceased by: his parents, George Scott and Jean Watts Scott; his son Gene Ray Scott, II; his brother Marty Livingston; and his niece Brittany Jean Scott.

He is survived by: his daughter Amanda Leavens of Thomasville; his aunt Christine Watts; his siblings, Chuck Scott (Rene) of Thomasville, Barry Scott of Eden, Gina Hicks (Jesse) of Thomasville, Cindy Livingston of Texas and Lisa Ingram (Randy) of Archdale; his grandson Toby McNeill; and his cousin William A. Williams.
