He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Monroe Gillespie and Dorothy Moncus Gillespie; and his siblings, Wayne Gillespie, Kenneth Gillespie and Linda Gillespie.

He is survived by: his siblings, Albert Gillespie, David Gillespie, Eddie Gillespie, Mark Gillespie, Timothy Gillespie and Mary Gillespie Dauer. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
