He was predeceased by: his father Johnny William Payne Jr.. He is survived by: his mother Reva Howard Pennington; his wife Susan Wilson Payne; his sons, Bryan Payne and Dylan Payne; his siblings, Mark Payne (Sherry) and Shelia Henquinet (Curtis); and his nephew Christopher. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
