As we bid Jerry Baxter farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Jerry Baxter is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.

He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Baxter Bonnie Black and Dulcie Hill Black; his wife Sue Owens Black; and his sons, Jerry Scott Black (Sharee), David Baxter Black (Diane Smithson) and Samuel Keith Black (Amanda). He was also cherished by his family, friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Davidson Funeral Home (301 N Main St, Lexington, NC 27292). A graveside service was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Reeds United Methodist Church (4731 W Old Hwy 64, Lexington, NC 27292).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, a cause close to Jerry's heart.
