He was predeceased by: his parents, John Daniel Ward and Lottie Fritts Ward; his daughter Joni Ward; his granddaughter Carly Allen; and his siblings, Buford Ward, Ed Ward, Dan Ward, Archie Ward, Edith Truitt, Jackie Farabee and Kaye Everhart.
He is survived by: his wife Dorcas Ward; his daughters, Tammy Allen (Dale) of Lexington and Lori Alexander (Joey) of Lexington; his sisters, Ruth Jolly of Lexington, Doris Hedrick of Lexington and Mary Workman (David) of Thomasville; his grandchildren, Jessica Hill Williams (Russell), Chelsea Hill Hoag (Cody), Yvette Hill Beatty (Craig) and Jamie Hill Connotillo; and his great grandchildren, Landon Hoag, Jordy Hoag and Anson Williams.
