It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lokeel Mabe Whelpley of Lexington, North Carolina, who passed away on February 18, 2026, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Uriel Watson "U. W." Mabe and Jennie Covington Mabe; her husband Richard Leroy Whelpley; her son Ricky Lee Hinshaw; and her son-in-law Donald Lemmings.
She is survived by: her children, Dean Blalock (Susan), Gail Lemmings and Karen Sanford (Mark); and her sister Chappell Hunter. She is also survived by six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
