With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marie Hanes of Lexington, North Carolina, who passed away on February 24, 2024 at the age of 101. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Preston Byerly and Pearl Elizabeth Zimmerman Byerly; her husband Earnest Clinton Hanes; her daughter Carolyn Bennett; her granddaughter Natalie Adkins; her sons-laws, Eugene Hall and James Perkins; and her siblings, Clarence Byerly, W. A. Byerly, Mary Freedle, Ethel Freedle and Grace Hege.
She is survived by: her daughters, Betty Hall, Shirley Perkins, Nell Beck (Eddy), Donna Chapman (Roy) and Kathy Adkins (Steve); her son-in-law Gordon Bennett; her grandchildren, Terry Hall, Deborah Hussey (Dale), Maria LeBaron, Clinton Perkins, Todd Perkins, Michael Beck (Lori), Stacy Byram (Shawn), Carey Adkins, Tiffany Richardson (Beau), Nathan Link (Lauren), Dena Marie Rosen (Chris), Christy Cox (Bobby), Sara Chapman (Eric) and C. J. Dotson (Stephen); and her sisters, Pauline Everhart and Ruby Freedle. She is also survived by 31 great-grandchildren, 12 great great-grandchildren.
