He was predeceased by: his father John William Hinkle, Sr.; his wife Dorothy Rose "Candy" Hinkle; and his brother Claude Lee Hinkle. He is survived by: his siblings, John William "Billy" Hinkle, Jr. of Winston Salem, Charles McClure Hinkle of Reeds and Brenda Hinkle Lemly of Reeds.
