She was predeceased by: her parents, Jessie Scott Kepley, Sr. and Kathleen Myers Kepley; her husband James Hughes; her daughter Rita Hughes; and her brother Jessie Scott Kepley, Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Ronnie Hughes (Darlene) of Lexington, Ronda Hughes Skipper (Tim) of Lexington and Richard Hughes (Stacey) of Asheboro; her sisters, Edith, Rachel and Betty; and her grandchildren, Jennifer, Rodney, Jamie, Edward, Cora, Taylor, Vanessa, Madison, Casey, Brandi, David, Nicole and Candace. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Davidson County.
