He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Kirkland Burns, Sr. and Eleanor Henrikson Burns; his brother Marshal Burns; and his grandson Logan Jennings Rutledge. He is survived by: his wife Marva Jordan Burns of Lexington, NC; his daughters, Lori Burns Rutledge (Walter Parker) and Lisa Burns Green (Clark); his brother William Burns (Billy) of Colonial Heights, Mi.; and his grandchildren, Dolen Rutledge, Nathan Rutledge, Lawton Rutledge, Cole McKnight and Eliza McKnight.

Memorials maybe made to the Logan Rutledge Children's Foundation. 3496 Henrietta Hartford Rd. Mount Pleasant, SC 29466.
