He was predeceased by: his parents, Ransom Dones McDowell and Mintie Jane Kepley McDowell; and his siblings, Jimmy McDowell, Junior McDowell and Frances Clark.
He is survived by: his children, Tammy Lynn Brown of Thomasville, Samantha McDowell Smith (Robert) of Lexington, Debra McDowell Hunt (Shawn) of Lexington and Timothy McDowell (Jessica) of Thomasville; the mother of his children Carrie Todd McDowell; and his siblings, Donnie McDowell, Dale McDowell (Shirley), Debra Lou McDowell, Jeanette Kay Bullins (Darrell) and Alma Jane Welborn. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
